Dr. Sarah's Bio

I have been teaching about, writing about, talking about, and having sex for all my adult life.  My Bachelor's, Master's, and PhD are all in Women's Studies, with a focus on sexuality and disability.

I have also always been active in the community as an educator and entrepreneur.  Since the late 1990s, I've worked as a professional sex educator, ran a feminist sex-toy business in central Ohio, owned a kinky BnB, and have worked in various aspects of the sex industry (e.g., video, private modeling, phone, etc.) throughout my career.

I've loved every minute of my work as a pleasure activist, and am excited to extend that work through Feminist Slut!

Know Better, Do Better

I am responsible for always trying to learn and do better. I will make mistakes, but I promise to always work to do better.  Have a suggestion? Please send me a constructive email or comment on socials! You can also provide anonymous feedback.

Sex Is Powerful

As a feminist I work hard against abuses of power. But I also don't think power in sexual relationships is necessarily bad or undesirable.  I believe sexuality is one aspect of life that we can mindfully and productively think about and play with power.

Prioritize Pleasure & Joy

I am a pleasure activist. As Adrienne Maree Brown explains, “Pleasure is the point. Feeling good is not frivolous, it is freedom.” Pleasure "is the aliveness and awakening, the gratitude and humility, the joy and celebration of being miraculous.”

Rock 'n' Roll

I love all art, but music is especially important. It is the one art form that consistently moves me. Rock 'n' Roll also expresses my personality. As MGK says, "I don't want to close my eyes without feeling like I lived."  Exactly.

Cultivate Wonder & Awe

The world is amazing.  Sure, people can be shitty and the world is in a serious climate crisis, BUT, we also have the ability to heal and change and evolve.  I work hard to pay attention to people and things that spread wonderment and awe.
